The book is very well-written and the illustrations are a wonderful complement to the story. This is an ideal book for children of all ages. Younger children will enjoy having it read to them and older children will be able to read it themselves and will find the story engaging.
I read the book to our 6 year old and 4 year old granddaughters at bedtime last night and they loved it! They both sat up in bed leaning forward with interest as I read the story. This book is a must for any child! My family had the oppurtunity to share fun and laughter by reading this book. My kids absolutely loved the stories. We listen to them on the way to school and the stories get my kids in the right frame of mind to handle the rest of their day. These stories are filled with beautiful and detailed imagery and they stimulate the imagination. I’d rather have my kids using their brain than staring blankly at some video. We were not surprised how our son John, age 9, listened with enthusiastic interest to the 'Gus and Phil' stories. My sons Chapman, age 10 1/2 and Jackson, age 7, have a routine of listening to the well known "Adventures in Odyssey" series every night as they are going to sleep. One night I substituted "Gus and Phil" for the usual CD. My oldest said it was awesome and my youngest blurted out, "It's better than Odyssey! Where can we get the next one!" Both boys enthusiastically agreed that they loved it, especially the music and the different voices and couldn't wait to hear the next "Gus and Phil" story. Great stories that drew my two girls (ages 11 and 8) right in. I was thinking we'd listen to one story each time we got in the car. But the first time we listened to the stories, their request was to bring the CD inside so they could finish the whole thing. I even found them figuring out how to play the theme song on the piano. Clear, positive messages…A wonderful series. I'm looking forward to hearing more!
