Comments:

The book is very well-written and the illustrations are a wonderful complement to the story. This is an ideal book for children of all ages. Younger children will enjoy having it read to them and older children will be able to read it themselves and will find the story engaging.

I read the book to our 6 year old and 4 year old granddaughters at bedtime last night and they loved it! They both sat up in bed leaning forward with interest as I read the story. We purchase a lot of books for our granddaughters, but this one will remain a favorite for years to come

This book is a must for any child! My family had the oppurtunity to share fun and laughter by reading this book. We have the cds and have enjoyed those, but having the pictures in the book made the stories come to life even more! I love how the Gus and Phil stories teach my children postive messages and re-connect me to my own inner child! - Marie, Snellville, Georgia

See what people are saying about "Gus and Phil"...

My kids absolutely loved the stories.  We listen to them on the way to school and the stories get my kids in the right frame of mind to handle the rest of their day.  These stories are filled with beautiful and detailed imagery and they stimulate the imagination. I’d rather have my kids using their brain than staring blankly at some video. They also model what great friendships are supposed to be and provide a great opportunity for discussing prejudice and teaching respect for others no matter how different they seem.

We were not surprised how our son John, age 9, listened with enthusiastic interest to the 'Gus and Phil' stories.  After listening to one of them, he anxiously requested to hear the next one and wanted to know where we could get some more! As parents, we feel these stories mix old-fashioned values of trust and friendship with relevant issues such as fear and peer pressure.  Ivan's stories capture "Andy Griffith" style lessons in fun stories for kids.  "Gus and Phil" stories would not only be great at bedtime, but would also be the perfect road trip companion for families on vacation.

Ivan's stories are full of friendship and love and I found them involving, entertaining, and touching all at the same time.
Being a professional actor and story teller I was impressed by the professional-quality narration and musical accompaniment, along with the charm, entertainment value, and moral worth of the stories.

My sons Chapman, age 10 1/2 and Jackson, age 7, have a routine of listening to the well known "Adventures in Odyssey" series every night as they are going to sleep.  One night I substituted "Gus and Phil" for the usual CD.  My oldest said it was awesome and my youngest blurted out, "It's better than Odyssey!  Where can we get the next one!"  Both boys enthusiastically agreed that they loved it, especially the music and the different voices and couldn't wait to hear the next "Gus and Phil" story.  I would wholeheartedly recommend this wonderfully, heartrending story and am eagerly awaiting the release of the next story!

It is my great pleasure to recommend Ivan Benson's "Gus and Phil" stories. What delightful entertainment! Even as an adult I am transported to another time and place when I listen to these stories. If adults love them this much, imagine how the kids will react!

Great stories that drew my two girls (ages 11 and 8) right in. I was thinking we'd listen to one story each time we got in the car.  But the first time we listened to the stories, their request was to bring the CD inside so they could finish the whole thing. I even found them figuring out how to play the theme song on the piano. Clear, positive messages…A wonderful series. I'm looking forward to hearing more!
